From hertz to hearts
Founded by a Registered Nurse & musician. Sometimes a song is more than a song.
Founded by a Registered Nurse and musician, with real experience of the aged care environment.
Shaped by an understanding of how music meets memory, emotion, attention and connection.
Music Facilitation as standard, with Registered Music Therapist collaboration where it's needed.
Why music matters
A melody can bring comfort. A familiar song can unlock a treasured memory. Singing together can create connection. Rhythm can encourage movement and participation.
Sometimes, simply hearing a favourite song can bring a smile to someone's face. Our approach is informed by an understanding of the ways music interacts with memory, emotion, attention, communication and social connection.
Our services
Every community is different. We start with your residents — their generation, their culture, their abilities and their favourites — and build the session around them.
Live music, singalongs and familiar favourites that bring a room together — warm, interactive and genuinely inclusive.
Music can be especially meaningful for people living with cognitive change. Sessions are paced, adapted and led gently — matched to individual abilities, preferences and levels of participation, with no pressure to perform.
One-to-one music for residents who find groups overwhelming, are cared for in their room, or simply respond best to undivided attention.
Chosen for musicianship and for reliability, communication and a genuine desire to make a difference. Screened, credentialed, inducted and supported.
Where a clinically focused approach is appropriate, we collaborate with Registered Music Therapists who design and oversee the program.
Getting started
Tell us about your community — your residents, your existing lifestyle program, and what you'd like music to do for them. No obligation, no pressure.
We recommend the right option: Music Facilitation, individual engagement, or a program designed with a Registered Music Therapist. Weekly, fortnightly or occasional.
A facilitator arrives, works alongside your lifestyle and care team, and the sessions become something residents look forward to.
Why Hertz2Hearts
Hertz2Hearts was founded by a Registered Nurse and musician, with a nursing background complemented by a neuroscience informed understanding of the brain, behaviour, emotion, memory and human connection.
That broader study — including psychotherapy and hypnotherapy — has built a real appreciation of the relationship between the mind, brain, emotions and behaviour. It's an unusual combination, and it shapes everything about how we work.
The difference it makes
Not outcomes we promise on paper — the things we see happen in the room.
People who normally sit apart end up singing the same chorus.
A first dance, a hymn, a wartime song — and the story that comes with it.
Comfort, calm and lifted spirits that last beyond the session itself.
Rhythm invites tapping, clapping and swaying — participation without instruction.
No musical ability needed. Sing, listen, tap or share a memory — all of it counts.
A regular date in the calendar that residents remember and ask about.
Being clear about what we do
Both are valuable, and they complement each other. We're explicit about which one you're getting — and we can arrange either.
Delivered by trained Hertz2Hearts Music Facilitators. Designed to provide meaningful recreational, social and wellbeing-focused music experiences. This is not clinical music therapy.
Delivered by qualified Registered Music Therapists. Where a more clinically focused service is appropriate, we collaborate — the RMT designs and oversees the program, with trained facilitators supporting delivery where suitable.
Not sure which fits your residents? That's exactly what the first conversation is for.
In their words
Hertz2Hearts is new, and these are among the first words from people who have seen us perform. More will appear here as our partnerships grow.
Because sometimes a song is more than a song. It can be a memory. It can be a connection. It can be a smile. It can be a moment of belonging.
The Hertz2Hearts promiseWhat we set out to create, every session
It was indeed my pleasure to watch Hertz2Hearts perform on Christmas Day to the clients of Mercy Care. I was struck by how much the clients enjoyed it all — they came alive, dancing and singing to the old tunes from their era. They remembered the words. The staff on duty joined in, encouraging and so caring. It was a very rewarding experience and one which should be replicated in all care homes. The benefits of music are well proven. I'm 72 and I would certainly consider one which offered caring staff and a wellness program which includes music, which is very powerful. To have young people give their time, especially on Christmas Day, was a joy in itself — the bridging of generations and soul stirring.
I attended a performance where Hertz2Hearts were playing recently, and from the moment they started, the atmosphere completely lifted — people dancing, singing along and genuinely enjoying themselves. They played an amazing variety of songs that clearly resonated with everyone there. Their music brought so much joy, and the vibe they created was warm, uplifting and engaging. This duo are very talented musicians with a natural ability to connect with people of all ages.
Questions
A Music Facilitator is a trained musician who uses music to create engaging and inclusive experiences for participants. Sessions may include live music, singing, familiar songs, rhythm, movement, reminiscence and interactive activities.
Music Facilitators are not Registered Music Therapists and do not provide clinical music therapy.
Yes. Music can be particularly meaningful for people living with cognitive impairment, and sessions can be adapted to suit individual abilities, preferences and levels of participation. Where a clinical approach is required, we can discuss collaboration with a Registered Music Therapist.
Not at all. Music can be enjoyed at every level of ability. Residents can sing, move, participate with rhythm, share memories, or simply listen and enjoy the experience.
Absolutely. We value collaboration with aged care teams and work alongside lifestyle, wellbeing and care staff so our sessions complement your existing activities and environment rather than competing with them.
Sessions can be arranged according to the needs of your organisation — weekly, fortnightly, occasional or specially scheduled for an event.
